When the rainy season/typhoon season comes, the diesel generator set may be affected by floods, rainstorm and other natural disasters. When water enters the diesel generator set, the user should take necessary measures in time to disconnect the external power supply and battery connection line. The engine should not be operated, nor should he try to turn the crankshaft. The engine should not be operated, Simultaneously check the water ingress in various parts.

1. Check if there is water discharged from the drainage components of the exhaust pipeline (the lowest point of the exhaust pipe or muffler).

2. Check if there is water accumulation in the air filter housing and if the filter element is soaked in water.

3. Check if there is water accumulation at the bottom of the generator casing.

4. Check for blockages in rotating components such as radiators, fans, and couplings.

5. Is there any leakage of oil, fuel, or water from the outside.

6. Remove the rocker arm chamber cover, observe for water ingress, and inspect the insulation/contamination of the generator winding.

7. Inspect the insulation of control circuits and output circuits, as well as control panel modules, various instruments, alarm devices, and start switches.

Attention: Never allow water to enter the combustion chamber of the engine!

Treatment method for diesel generator set after water ingress:

When it is determined that there is no water entering the combustion chamber of the diesel generator set engine and the insulation meets the requirements, the diesel generator set can be started. Pay attention to the following issues during startup:

1. Perform all checks before starting, including draining the accumulated water in the fuel tank, gradually powering on the electrical system, and observing for any abnormalities.

2. The time for continuously starting the engine should not exceed 30 seconds. If the engine cannot catch fire, check the fuel pipelines and electrical circuits, and start again after one or two minutes.

3. Check if there are any abnormalities or odors in the engine sound, and check if the display of electrical instruments and LCD screens are broken or unclear.

4. Close observation of oil pressure and water temperature. If the oil pressure or temperature does not meet the technical specifications, the engine should be shut down, and after shutdown, the oil level should be checked once.

When it is judged that the engine may have water ingress or the insulation of the generator does not meet the requirements, do not repair it without authorization. Seek the help of professional technical personnel from the generator manufacturer.
