The cylinder block and cylinder head of diesel generators have different repair methods due to their different deformation parts and degrees. The commonly used repair methods are as follows.
1. The protrusions near the screw holes on the cylinder surface can be smoothed with an oilstone or a fine file.
2. The cylinder and cylinder head of the diesel generator are uneven and can be repaired using milling and grinding methods.
When using the milling and grinding method to repair the upper part of the cylinder block, always use the centerline of the main bearing hole and cylinder hole as the machining positioning reference. The upper end face of each cylinder can be repaired up to 2 times, with each repair not exceeding 0.25mm and the grinding amount not exceeding 0.50mm. After grinding the platform on the cylinder, the cylinder height H (i.e. the distance from the center of the crankshaft main bearing hole to the top of the cylinder) should be checked, and its value should be within the allowable range. Various engines have different values, so it is important to carefully read the manual during maintenance. At the same time, after grinding on the surface of the cylinder block, in order to maintain the normal clearance and original compression ratio between the piston and valve, thicker cylinder gaskets should be selected.
3. If the cylinder block and cylinder head of a diesel generator are uneven, it can also be leveled with a shovel or coated with grinding agent, and the cylinder head can be placed in the cylinder block for clamping and grinding.
4. The cylinder head is twisted and can be corrected by tapping.
The method of repairing the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine using the tapping method: first, place a steel pad with a thickness of about 4 times the deformation of the cylinder head between the cylinder head and the flat plate. Press the pressure plate in the center of the cylinder head, tighten the bolts to connect the center surface of the cylinder head with the flat bottom. Use a small hammer to strike along the cylinder head 2-3 times, and take 5 minutes to move the pressure plate to one-third of the length to reduce internal stress caused by compression deformation. Then move to the other end at l/3 position for pressure calibration and striking.
When the cylinder head is warped at the diagonal, the pressure plate should be diagonally pressed against the cylinder head. If the pressure is excessive, the cylinder head can be placed next to the forging furnace and baked for a while to eliminate it.
After the flat surface of the cylinder head is warped, it can also be repaired using grinding method.
After grinding the cylinder head, the thickness of the cylinder head will decrease, the volume of the combustion chamber will decrease, and the compression ratio will increase, leading to an explosion in the internal combustion engine. So, when the thickness of the cylinder head is less than the standard thickness of 2mm, a new cylinder head should be replaced, or an additional cylinder head should be added to continue using when the strength is not significantly affected. The cylinder head is prone to uneven differences in combustion chamber volume after deformation due to grinding, and the difference in volume change is generally not greater than 4% of the average volume of each combustion chamber in the same internal combustion engine. The volume of the combustion chamber of a regular internal combustion engine shall not be less than 95% of the original factory regulations, otherwise it is prone to explosion. Therefore, after repairing the cylinder head, the combustion chamber volume should be measured.
