In summer, during the peak electricity consumption period of the year, local power rationing measures usually occur. Enterprises with large electricity consumption usually alternate power rationing, and many enterprises, units, and individuals have prepared diesel generator sets as backup. Diesel generator sets are inevitably prone to malfunctions during use, with the common one being "stalling". When the diesel generator set automatically shuts down, the speed gradually decreases, the operation is unstable, and white smoke is emitted during the exhaust period. This phenomenon indicates that there is water in the diesel, the cylinder gasket is damaged by flushing, or the automatic pressure reduction is damaged. Measure: Replace the cylinder gasket and adjust the pressure reducing mechanism.
2. The exhaust pipe emits black smoke, and the fuel filling valve cannot work properly. This situation is mostly caused by poor diesel combustion in diesel engines. The main reason is that the air filter and intake duct are severely blocked by impurities, resulting in insufficient intake. The air filter should be cleaned, the intake duct should be unblocked, and the air should be sufficient.
3. When the engine is automatically turned off, the operation is continuous and unstable, accompanied by abnormal knocking sounds. This phenomenon belongs to sudden mechanical failures, and the common causes include: broken crankshaft, broken piston pin, loose or broken connecting rod bolts, valve keys, valve retaining springs falling off, valve springs or valve stems breaking off, causing valve detachment, etc. Once such a situation is found in the generator during work, it should be immediately shut down for inspection to avoid major mechanical accidents. It can be sent to a professional maintenance point for comprehensive inspection.
4. When the engine automatically shuts off, the sudden decrease in torque and severe black smoke from the exhaust pipe are often caused by sudden and strong obstruction of engine operation. The reason is that the cooling system is short of water, the engine overheats, causing the piston to be pulled or stuck in the cylinder liner, poor lubrication of the friction pair, burning tiles, holding the shaft, or biting parts of the valve mechanism, resulting in the engine being stalled. We should strengthen the maintenance and upkeep of the lubrication and cooling systems, and add enough lubricating oil and cooling water.
5. When the engine automatically stalls, the sound of the diesel engine becomes muffled, making it difficult to operate and emitting black smoke. This indicates that the diesel engine is overloaded.
6. If there is no abnormality before automatic shutdown and the engine suddenly stalls, it indicates that the fuel injection pump or injector suddenly stops supplying fuel. The reasons are: the plunger spring is broken, the plunger is stuck by impurities, the needle valve of the fuel injector is stuck, the pressure spring is broken, the operating rod and connecting pin of the fuel injection pump come off, the fixing bolts of the fuel injection pump drive shaft and the driving plate are loose, and the keys on the shaft are cut flat due to looseness. Causing sliding of the drive shaft or drive plate, resulting in the inability of the drive shaft to drive the fuel injection pump, etc.
When automatic shutdown occurs, the engine speed gradually decreases, and there is no abnormal sound or exhaust smoke color during diesel engine operation. This indicates that the horizontal bar diesel engine should not be powered on, because the diesel in the fuel tank is used up, or the diesel switch is not visible or open, or the fuel tank vent, fuel filter and fuel pump are blocked, or the oil circuit is not sealed and air enters.
