The oil pump is one of the main components of the engine lubrication system. It can absorb the oil from the engine oil pan, generate pressure through the inner and outer rotors of the oil pump, and finally deliver the oil to various moving parts of the engine for lubrication through the engine lubrication oil passage. If the oil pump malfunctions, it will lead to poor engine lubrication, engine noise, piston pulling, and other faults. The oil pump works under high loads and is also one of the components that often malfunction in the engine. Therefore, it is very important to understand the maintenance of the oil pump. The following are specific maintenance methods for the oil pump:
(1) Remove the bolts on the oil pump housing and separate the oil pump housing from the oil pump cover.
(2) Check the radial clearance between the inner and outer rotors of the oil pump. If the radial clearance between the inner and outer rotors exceeds the maintenance limit, replace the oil pump.
(3) Check the axial clearance between the oil pump housing and the rotor. If the axial clearance between the oil pump housing and rotor exceeds the repair limit, replace the oil pump.
(4) Check the radial clearance between the oil pump housing and the outer rotor. If the radial clearance between the oil pump housing and the outer rotor exceeds the maintenance limit, replace the oil pump.
(5) Check for scratches or other damage on the two inner and outer rotors and the oil pump housing. If there is any damage, the damaged parts must be replaced.
(6) Install the oil pump cover and check if the oil pump rotates freely. If it works properly, install the oil pump drive belt.
Maintenance steps for oil pump: The main form of damage to the oil pump is leakage caused by wear and tear of parts, resulting in a decrease in pump oil pressure and volume. The increase in end face clearance, tooth tip clearance, gear meshing clearance, and shaft bearing clearance of the oil pump, as well as the adjustment of sealing and pressure limiting valves, will affect the pump oil volume and pressure. Due to the good lubrication conditions, slow wear of parts, and long service life during the operation of the oil pump, the need for disassembly and repair can be determined based on its performance.
(1) Use a ruler and a thickness gauge to check the distance between the gear section and the pump cover section, that is, to check the section clearance, which is generally 0.05015mm
(2) Use a ruler and a thickness gauge to check the flatness of the pump cover end face. If the flatness error is greater than 0.05mm, it should be ground flat
⑶ Use a thickness gauge to check the gap between the tooth tip and the pump body, and the gap value is generally 0.05-0.15mm
Use a thickness gauge to measure the meshing clearance of the gear, and at the same time, measure the adjacent 120 degrees; The measurement is conducted at three points, and the clearance value is generally between 0.05 and 0.20mm. The difference in tooth clearance between the three points should not exceed 0.1 mm
