(1) Fault phenomenon.
The water temperature gauge of the diesel generator set indicates that it exceeds the specified value. During acceleration, the diesel engine makes a messy metal tapping sound and the power decreases.
(2) Cause analysis.
The main reason for diesel engine overheating is poor cooling effect or overloading operation.
① Cooling system malfunction
a. Leakage or insufficient cooling water in the cooling pipeline.
b. The cooling fan belt is loose and slipping, resulting in reduced heat dissipation efficiency.
c. The water pump is damaged and loses its drainage function. Air in the water pump or water pipe forms air resistance.
d. Severe scaling or channel blockage in the cooling system.
e. The thermostat is damaged and malfunctioning, and the cooling effect of hot water circulating in the body is significantly reduced.
f. The surface area of the cooling fins and copper pipes in the cooling water tank is too dirty, and the cooling water tank freezes in winter.
② The gasket of the cylinder head is damaged and the cooling water channel is not unobstructed.
③ Diesel engines operate at excessive loads for extended periods of time.
(3) Recommended handling methods for diesel generator set manufacturers
① During the operation of the diesel engine, when the water temperature gauge reading exceeded the specified value, the cooling water boiled over and overflowed from the return pipe. During acceleration, the diesel engine emits a chaotic metallic knocking sound, which can easily cause parts to get stuck or break. Therefore, it should be stopped immediately for inspection. First, fill the water tank with water and check for any leaks. If not, press the fan belt by hand to check if it is too loose (under normal circumstances, the belt should generally be pressed down for 12-20mm). If the belt is normal, the water pump and cooling water pipes should be checked for smoothness. If the cooling water pipes are severely scaled or blocked, they should be cleaned and unblocked in a timely manner. Failure of the thermostat can cause the diesel engine to overheat, characterized by the high temperature of the cooling water inside the diesel engine, but the low temperature of the water in the radiator. The thermostat can be removed and the diesel engine can be started. If the water temperature of the diesel engine is normal at this time, it can be concluded that the thermostat is ineffective and should be repaired or replaced. If there is too much scale on the surface of the heat sink fins and copper pipes, the water tank should be cleaned in a timely manner to remove scale and clear the cooling water channel. The freezing resistance of the water tank is commonly seen in diesel engines used in winter. Water heated to around 80 ° C can be added to the cooling water tank to thaw, or it can be baked over fire.
② The cylinder head gasket should be replaced if it is damaged. After the above inspection, if all are normal, check whether the fuel supply time is too short. Its characteristics are: when the diesel engine is running, the sound is muffled and it cannot be heard, and the power is insufficient. At this time, the fuel supply advance angle should be adjusted to ensure the correct fuel injection time.
③ If the overheating of the diesel engine is caused by overload operation, the load should be immediately reduced for use.
