High water temperature in diesel generator sets is a common fault when using generator sets. When the water temperature is too high, it can cause piston jamming, cylinder pulling and other faults, as well as a decrease in lubricating oil viscosity, which affects the power performance of the generator set. To control the high water temperature, it is necessary to use it within the allowable range. Several reasons for high water temperature in diesel generator sets:

1、 Blocked water radiator

The presence of clogging substances in water radiators, or inversion, can cause an increase in water temperature and prevent heat dissipation. If the surface of the water radiator is mixed with oil, the mixture of oil and dust, or the floating willow catkins in the air in summer, makes it more difficult to dissipate heat. A thinner steel plate should be carefully pulled back to its original position. Then use a water gun to clean the radiator. If hot water and cleaning solution are used together, the effect will be better.

2、 Improper coolant

If the coolant is selected improperly or insufficient, it will affect its cooling performance. The working temperature of diesel generator sets is very high, and if the coolant is improper or insufficient, it can cause the temperature to rise rapidly. It is necessary to add coolant in a timely manner or choose a suitable coolant.

3、 Cooling water pump malfunction

After the failure of the cooling water pump, the flow rate of the coolant is small, and there is more scale deposition in the water pump, which reduces the heat dissipation performance of the generator set and leads to an increase in the temperature of the diesel engine oil.

4、 Overload operation

When the generator set operates under overload, the heat will continuously increase, exceeding the heat dissipation capacity of the generator set. At the same time, it will also cause the temperature of the coolant to rise, leading to faults such as black smoke and noise in the generator set.

5、 Thermostat malfunction

When the thermostat is turned on at around 85, it indicates that the thermostat is in good working condition and will fully open at 105. Its main function is to regulate the size and circulation of the cooling system. The thermostat should be inspected appropriately. During the inspection, the thermostat should be disassembled and then suspended in a container with warm water. Then place a thermometer and slowly heat from the bottom to check the working status of the thermostat. If it cannot reach 85 open or 105 fully open, it indicates that the thermostat has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced.

In addition, there are also issues such as incorrect temperature gauge or warning light indications, damaged cylinder gaskets, and improper fuel injection time, which have led to the problem of high water temperature in the generator set. It should be promptly resolved upon discovery. Otherwise, it will cause some damage to the generator set.
