Only correct operation, maintenance, and upkeep can ensure the safe operation of equipment. The only way to avoid personal and equipment hazards is to strictly follow operating procedures and relevant safety rules.
1. Pay attention to the danger of electric shock
The power from the generator set entering the shared line must pass through a mechanically interlocked transfer switch (ATS) to ensure isolation from the mains.
The unit must be reliably grounded and insulated tools must be used for maintenance of live equipment. In humid environments, attention should be paid to the risk of electric shock.
Comply with all electrical regulations, and the installation and maintenance of the electrical part of the equipment must be carried out by qualified professional electrical personnel.
2. Toxic exhaust gas
There should be a suitable exhaust gas exhaust system to ensure that the engine's exhaust gas is completely discharged outdoors, and the exhaust gas exhaust system should be regularly checked for leaks. When there is exhaust gas in the generator room, doors and windows should be opened first to exhaust the exhaust gas before entering the house, to prevent carbon monoxide in the exhaust gas from poisoning people.
3. Operational safety
Do not use the generator set in areas with explosive hazards.
Being close to the running engine is very dangerous. Loose clothing, hair, and falling tools can cause significant accidents to individuals and equipment.
During operation, some exposed pipelines and components of the generator set are in a high-temperature state, so it is necessary to prevent touch burns.
4. Fire prevention
Metal objects can cause short circuits in electrical wires, which can lead to the occurrence of fires.
The engine should be kept clean, as excessive oil contamination may cause damage and fire to the engine body due to overheating.
Several dry powder or CO2 gas fire extinguishers should be placed in a convenient location inside the generator room.
5. Safety of using lead-acid batteries
The dilute sulfuric acid electrolyte of lead-acid batteries is toxic and corrosive, and contact with the skin can cause burns. It should be immediately rinsed with clean water.
If it splashes into the eyes, immediately rinse with plenty of clean water and seek medical treatment.
Batteries may release explosive gases during use, ensuring good indoor ventilation and prohibiting open flames from approaching.
6. Start Security
In extremely cold environments, starting the generator set requires a preheating device, and the body should not be baked with open flames. It is best to maintain the electrolyte temperature of the battery at 10 ℃ or above in order to provide sufficient power to the battery.
